silent green presents +++ It’s with a heavy heart that we have to announce a change in line-up for this evening, celebrating 15 years of zweikommasieben. Due to a London Heathrow under duress, Anna Homler wasn’t able to start her journey from Los Angeles to Berlin. Alternative routes were not feasible. Instead of Anna Homler, Wojciech Kosma aka spalarnia will present a performance that, likewise, puts voice and text front and center +++ To celebrate their fifteenth anniversary, Swiss experimental music publication zweikommasieben is going on tour, visiting spaces, people, and institutions that they’ve worked with before, feel a connection to, or admire from afar. For a night at silent green, zweikommasieben invites Berlin-based interdisciplinary artist Steven Warwick, also known as Heatsick, and Anna Homler from Los Angeles for two performances in the venue’s Kuppelhalle. The two artists have been featured in issues #13 and #17 of zweikommasieben respectively, and they have a shared history with each other, too. Warwick has been a live-collaborator for Homler’s legendary “Breadwoman” performance, originally developed in the mid-eighties, where she sings in a strange language and a mysterious being adorned with bread all over her body traverses the stage. Anna Homler’s work as a performance and improv artist covers a lot of alien bases: vocal work, an abundance of sound-making toys, and myriad collaborations form a practice that remains hard to pin down. Likewise, Steven Warwick is a man of many guises. He makes visual art, publishes books and zines, produces music for labels like PAN, and was part of the noise duo Birds Of Delay alongside Luke Younger aka Helm. For this night at silent green, Homler and Warwick will present two solo performances, with some help of the zweikommasieben DJs. Das titelgebende Paradox von spalarnia's neuem Album Paradoks liegt in seiner Fähigkeit, zugleich sanft und intensiv zu sein. Unaufhörliche, hypnotische Rhythmen und wuchtige Synthesizer verweben sich zu einem Zustand ständigen Werdens – permanent angespannt und zugleich aufrichtig. Inmitten dieser Klanglandschaften, die mal spärlich, mal gewaltig anmuten, bewegt sich spalarnia's Stimme zwischen Gesang und gesprochenem Wort. Sie wirkt scheinbar ruhig und warm, zugleich aber dunkel – wie eine Unterwasserhöhle an einem Sommertag, in der man Geheimnisse miteinander teilen kann. In seinen polnischen Texten widmet sich spalarnia Themen wie Liebe, Lust und Begehren sowie den damit verbundenen Ängsten, dem Verlassenwerden und der Emanzipation. Er erschafft eine Welt, die zutiefst persönlich und intim, zugleich aber gemeinschaftlich, euphorisch und hoffnungsvoll ist. Wie alle aufrichtigen emotionalen Landschaften ist auch diese Welt voller Widersprüche.
