無色透明 is formed from two words: colorless and transparent. Colorless means no bias toward any color, a zero on the color axis; transparent is the absence of scattering, allowing what lies beyond to be seen. We take the two as zeros placed on separate axes: colorless the zero of color, transparent the zero of light. They lie on different axes. That is why placing them together brings about a new meaning. The world does not resolve to a single value on one axis. It settles on no value and closes within no single axis. Colorless and transparent is a state and, at the same time, a structure that keeps perception from hardening. The world remains the world; only one’s relation to it changes. It closes within no single way of seeing; none stands as absolute. This is the structure. This structure is attempted as a four-hour field of continuous sound.
