This Friday at Berghain and Panorama Bar, Sound Metaphors presents yet another meticulously curated selection of musical sophistication from around the world. Since their formation in 2007, the British duo Paranoid London have defied digital production standards. Their live s tis based on vintage hardware such as the Roland TR-909 and TB-303, which they use to craft a deliberately raw acid house jam. They’ll be joined by the likes of Ferenc van der Sluijs aka I-F, this time performing under the moniker Beverly Hills 808303. The founder of The Hague-based Intergalactic FM has been shaping the Dutch West Coast sound since the early90s with distorted acid, raw techno, and Italo disco-influenced electro. Chicago visionary and label head of Nation, Kode, and DirtybLends, Traxx remains one of dance music’s true influencers. A deeply influential artist whose work dissolves boundaries between house, techno, experimental electronics, punk, and avant-garde sound. Through countless aliases and releases on labels like Relief, Crème Organization, Rush Hour, Dark Entries, and L.I.E.S., Traxx has shaped a raw, emotionally charged language rooted in Chicago’s underground while continuously mutating beyond it. His artistry is unpredictable, psychedelic, and entirely his own. George Evelyn aka Nightmares on Wax will be playing at Panorama Bar. Active on Warp Records since 1989, the British artist is regarded as a downtempo and trip-hop pioneer whose sets are driven by soul, funk, and dub. This will be contrasted by DJ Masda. The Berlin-based Japanese artist and co-founder of Cabaret Recordings is a superb selector whose expertise lies in the precise mixing of obscure, minimalist tech-house and house vinyl from the last three decades.
